The basin, bath and toilet at an Edgemead home all feed into a shared 110mm sewer line, and that line had blocked completely outside the property. Investigation found the culprit was a combination of accumulated toilet paper and root ingress, tree roots had worked their way into the old earthenware pipework, narrowing the internal diameter of the pipe and creating the conditions for a recurring blockage.
Cleared the obstruction mechanically using professional drain rods, breaking through the compacted material and restoring flow through the sewer line.
Drainage was fully restored at the time of the callout, but given that root intrusion into earthenware piping tends to come back, a CCTV camera inspection of the affected section is recommended to locate the exact entry points and determine whether the joints or pipe itself need repair or replacement.
