What Roof Painting Actually Involves
A proper roof paint job is mostly preparation, not paint. Different roofs need different systems. Concrete and clay tiles need a breathable membrane coating that locks in loose surface and resists algae. IBR, corrugated iron and Chromadek metal roofs need rust conversion, a galvanised-iron primer, and a flexible top coat that moves with the metal as it expands and contracts in the heat. Using the wrong product — ordinary wall paint on a roof, for example — guarantees early failure.
