Immediate Steps for an Overflowing Toilet
When your toilet overflows, immediately turn off the water supply using the isolation valve behind the toilet. If you cannot find it, turn off the main water supply. Do not keep flushing as this makes the flooding worse. Place towels around the base to contain the water and call our Gordon's Bay plumbing team for emergency assistance.
Why Toilets Overflow
Toilets overflow when too much toilet paper is flushed at once, foreign objects are flushed that should not be, there is a blockage in the toilet trap or drain pipe, the main sewer line is blocked affecting all fixtures, or there is a problem with the municipal sewer system.
