Charging at Home Is the Whole Point
Our Strand electrical team install home EV chargers in Strand for the growing number of electric and plug-in hybrid owners in the Winelands and northern suburbs. A proper wallbox charges your car overnight at a fraction of public-charging cost — but it draws as much power as everything else in the house combined, which is why it needs a dedicated, properly protected circuit, not an extension lead to the garage.
What a Proper Installation Involves
We start with a load assessment: what your supply and DB board can carry alongside the geyser, stove, and the rest of the house. Then a dedicated circuit from the DB board sized for the charger (typically 7.4 kW single-phase at home), the right protective devices for EV charging, weatherproof mounting of the wallbox at your parking position, and testing with your vehicle. If the DB board has no capacity, we quote the board upgrade in the same visit so there are no surprises.
Which Charger?
We install owner-supplied wallboxes (including the unit that came with your vehicle) or supply a quality wallbox as part of the quote. Smart chargers that schedule charging for off-peak hours or solar surplus are worth the small premium if you have time-of-use tariffs or panels on the roof.
Certified — Which Matters for the Warranty
Every installation is completed with a Certificate of Compliance covering the new circuit. Vehicle and charger warranties commonly require professional, certified installation — a plug-in arrangement in the garage can cost you both the warranty and the insurance claim.
